How to Adopt

Hello! We’re so glad you’re interested in learning more about how to adopt one of our canine friends!

Please download and complete the adoption application, located in the sidebar to the right. Return it as soon as possible by e-mailing it to Mary per the directions on the application. Once the application has been received and approved, we’ll contact you to arrange a meet and greet with the dog. After that, If you decide to proceed with the adoption, Mary or one of her volunteers will do a home check make sure your home (yard, fences, gates, living space) is dog-friendly and secure against any doggie-houdini escape artistry.

Once approved, you’ll be given a week trial period to keep the dog in your home and make sure he or she is a good match for you and your family. At this time, a post-dated check for the adoption fee is required, but it will be held until the trial period ends. If all goes well during the trial week, the adoption is finalized and you’ll be given the dog’s medical file, which contains veterinary records of exams, vaccines, spay and rabies certificates, microchip information and registration forms, etc. Then you and your new forever friend can get down to the business of living happily ever after!

We’re also in need of foster families, so if you’re not ready to adopt but can foster a dog until someone else can give him or her a forever home, please let us know!
